As part of the Jonathan Carver Parkway improvements, a new pedestrian underpass has been designed to improve safety for pedestrians walking from the Spring Creek neighborhood to Carver Elementary School. This underpass is located just north of Ironwood Drive.
The previous sidewalk at Spring Creek Drive and Jonathan Carver Parkway has purposefully been removed and will not be reconstructed. This decision was made during the design phase based on existing site constraints in the area. Spring Creek Drive residents looking to get to Carver Elementary or Kwik Trip are encouraged to use the new pedestrian underpass via Cherry Circle.
The City of Carver acknowledges that this update may lead to longer walk times for some. However, the pedestrian underpass eliminates the safety concerns involved with crossing several lanes of traffic at the Jonathan Carver Parkway and Spring Creek Drive intersection.
